Leadership Team 2016

Leadership, or followership? To know how to lead others, you must first know how to follow.

This year’s GRC band leadership team (formerly section leaders) will focus on creating an environment where all members of the band have a fun, safe atmosphere to give their all.

How do you become a member of the leadership team? Follow and contribute to our leadership posts. Each week, we’ll begin a new thread, and together we’ll start the discussion on what we want to accomplish during the 2016-17 school year. This will include all parts of the band program (jazz, color guard, concert/symphonic band, percussion ensemble, chamber ensembles, and of course, marching band).

All GRC leadership team members are highly encouraged to attend the Music For All Leadership Weekend held at Ball State University June 25-26. If you can, consider attending the BOA Summer Camp the following weekend, where you will get to meet up with band students from across the US. Click the link below for more information.

  1. I’m excited to see new faces and old ones that decided to stay – I’m also excited to see individuals improve and to learn more.

  2. This season, I am most excited about the concept of “Checkmate” and the music! I cannot wait to see what the future holds for our band!:):)

  3. For this year’s band season, I’d say that I’m most excited to get to play more amazing pieces of music. But I also cannot wait to see how many improvements we make in our musicianship throughout the year!

  4. I’m really excited to make new friends and be a role model for the freshman. And to get closer to the rest of the band. And to see what improvements we make this year.

  5. I’m excited for a new year of marching. I also love the theme of the show. I can’t wait to see the incoming marchers and the music.

  6. I’m really looking forward to next year’s band season for a variety of different reasons the new people, new music, and the constant but continued growth that the organization continues to show

  7. Personally I’m very excited to see where this season takes the band on our journey to greatness. I can’t wait to see the relationships we form as we all come together for one purpose: to make music. I’m also ecstatic for this new leadership team and the overall promotion of unity and being inclusive of everyone. This year I really hope that we can erase the negativity we have faced the past few years and replace it with a sense of pride. I firmly believe we are more than the sum of our parts. We are more than a marching band, we are a family. We are GRC

  8. The real question should be “what am I not looking forward to.” Honestly, I’m excited and looking forward to seeing us grow. To see the progression & see us join as a family once again. This program has really flown off sense my freshman year & I can’t wait till we get even better. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I’m excited for the growth of the band as a whole. I’m looking forward to our musicianship getting stronger as more students are coming into band. I am also excited to make more friends each day who all share the same passion as I do – band!

  10. I believe this will be one of our best band seasons since I’ve been here, even as a young band. I’m excited for incoming freshmen, eighth graders, and new marchers to discover the community and family marching band can be, and to learn how to cooperate as a group. I’m excited to perform and feel the music with my favorite people and to discover more new friends. I look forward to marching band as soon as it ends, and am ecstatic as soon as it starts again. And I can only hope everyone else can be excited for this oncoming season as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. This year I’m excited to see how far the band will progress and get better. Also I’m excited to see all of the new and old members improve themselves as musicians and as individuals.

  12. I am really looking forward to meeting new friends and having that sense of camaraderie. Yes, winning and doing your best are both important, but doing it with your friends, who are really your family (after spending 3-4 months with them), makes everything so whorthwhile. Also, as I head into my senior year of high school, I am looking forward to all the new memories that I will make this band season because marching band moments are the ones I cherish most and the ones I will keep with me after it is over.

  13. Wow! It makes me so happy to see our leadership board doing so well! I’ve noticed a couple of common goals amongst the comments: to improve our musicianship and to make new friends. I can’t agree more! Im so excited for the new season and what it brings to our band. It’s crazy how music can unite us. I hope that we reach our goals for this season and strive for what we all want: perfection. I’m so proud of everyone! Let’s have a great season!๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
